Newspaper Messageboards

Post  Chris on Mon Jun 23, 2008 8:45 pm

The comments sections of the main UK newspapers, The Times, The Telegraph, The Guardian, The Independent, The Daily Mail, etc, make bleak reading sometimes. Of course it is great that people air their problems, our politicians and media have interaction from their public that other countries could only dream of.

The down side is that there are often 100 comments in a row about how hopeless our country is. Now, we all know the message boards are just attracting whingers, but to a lot of readers outside of the UK, this is how they might summarize Londonders mentality. Also, I'm a huge believer in sheep mentality - that surrounded by moany people, you moan more, and surrounded by positivity, you are more positive in your outlook.

So, I say counter balance the negativity. Flood the boards with your own, educated opinion, but write it in a positive light, reinforcing how the picture isnt as bad as the comments paint, and that people should not be so hopeless about things.

What do you say?
